I've wanted to get a book with some of Mapplethorpe's work but have been hesitant because of the graphic nature of some of his images. However, I adored his nudes and his flowers especially. Then I stumbled across this book. It's exactly what I wanted! I get examples of his artwork without having to worry about some of his more outlandish images (which since I have small children isn't something I wanted accessible in my house.) I love his series based on Greek sculpture and perfection in form and this book has plenty of examples of that. It is an excellent addition to any photography collection, especially if you are more concerned about subject matter.
